Step into my world. Fashion life is crazy. I am currently juggling school, interning, wife life, and mom life. The effort it takes to keep up always has me scaling back on the blog post. I am looking for ways to schedule a day completely dedicated to blogging. Does anyone have a good scheduling system that they would like to share?
The fashion this week is the perfect mix between black and color. The skirt is from one of my favorite designers, Rachel Roy. I have posted many outfit looks from her various collections. She is my go to brand at Macy’s because I know I can find almost any type of outfit look in her collection. Do any of you wear Rachel Roy? If not what designers are you rocking this spring or summer?
People have been asking for more of my daily outfits, so, I will be posting outfits of the day (ootd) every Tuesday. Enjoy and leave comments or emails if there is anything else you would be interested in reading on the blog.
Today I am twenty-eight,and I am happy. I always feel excited to get older. This may be cliche’, but every year I feel a little wiser. I become more aware and knowledgeable on the world. I become more comfortable with myself and my life. I continue to strive for a better version of me. Each year I strive to live life to the fullest, and this year will be no exception.
Not much else to say about that, but birthdays should be celebrated in style. Hope you enjoys todays outfit. Live, Light, and Love!
When I saw this world map sweater by wild fox, I just knew it would be a clothing gem. Traveling the world has always been a goal of mine. I remember making plans with my best friends as a kid to take a road trip across the USA. I use to imagine walking down the big city streets and basking in the sun at beautiful beaches. That’s what I summed traveling up to as a kid. I knew there was a big world out there, and I wanted to be like Waldo and get lost in it.
I have been to quite a few places in the United States. I plan on going to many more, but my new goal is set on exploring across the sea. As an adult I have learned that traveling is far more than a vacation. Traveling is one of the best teachers. You learn so much by taking a step outside your local area, and nothing excites me more than heading toward departure. Below are a couple of my favorite reasons to travel.
Here are my top three reasons to travel:
Travel Gives New Experience
You meet new people, see a new place, experience new food, and basically live a new life for a few days. Nothing is more exciting then stepping into the new.
Travel Help You Discover Self
Learning how t deal with new situations, such as hotel troubles, or navigating a new place can bring about a plethora of new knowledge of self. You all of a sudden feel a little more confident in life after conquering a new city.
Travel Keeps You Aware
Going to different states or countries and seeing how others live can keep you wide-eyed and aware of the many differences amongst people. You will discover that religion; food, people, driving, education, and politics are different in every area that you visit. This will keep you aware of what is happening in our world.
Hey Y’all These pass few weeks have been extremely busy for me. I have been working internships in the fashion world, going to school at night, had an unexpected surgery, and of course taking are of my beautiful family.
Now I am back! I have been working on the blog in the background. I am still trying to decide my direction, if I want to stay personal style blogger to fully lifestyle transition. I shall make a decision in the next three months; this is just to give myself a timeline.
This week’s fashion Friday is fun, thrifty and effortless. The skirt was worn in a previous post here. All you need is a plaid shirt, thrift leather or faux leather a-line skirt, and a great pair of heels. Take off ladies. Werk, Werk, Werk, Werk!
Is it Friday again? Who is having a case of the winter blues? This week has flown by. I have been so busy that I have I can’t think straight or at least it feels that way sometimes. The constant hustle and bustle of trying to break into an industry can feel overwhelming at times. The beginning of starting a business feels endless. It seems that I am tirelessly working for little reward, and even though far in my mind I feel that it will pay off in the end, those sleepless nights still leave lingering thoughts. I say all this to say if you have had a seemingly endless tiring week, cheer up. The weekend is here, and although I will still be working I do intend to take several breaks and moments to enjoy me time and family time. If we do not refuel, we eventually run out of gas. It is important to take time off. Rejoice in the fact that you are alive and breathe.
Lets talk fashion! This look was shot whilst visiting our family in Oklahoma in January. It snowed the first day we got there and went away that same day. This is simple men’s fashion look that can transfer into casual, lazy, or dinner date depending on your swag. I want to point out that most stores are having a sale on winter clothing. This is the perfect time to stock up on your sweaters, scarf’s, and coats for the next year. A lot of store will put out the same sweaters from the previous season when they start restocking winter gear in August. Check out the men’s style below and click the links on where to buy.
Last Sunday I had the delight of attending one of the sweetest (pun intended) events in Los Angeles, LA Cookie Con and Sweets Show. Seriously, cookies, cakes, and cupcakes oh my, it was an event to leave your mouth watering and mind blown. I took my husband and my daughter with me and we were in awe as soon as we entered the building. There were bacon wrapped cupcakes, and cakes towering as tall as me. I could believe my eyes after seeing food as creative art ranging in such designs such as the Iphone 6 and towering platters of food to vodka infused cupcakes, and twirling cupcake stands. Those were my favorite by the way, alcohol infused cupcakes are the perfect nighttime snacks.
We arrived there Sunday afternoon so the sample goodies started to run low as the weekend show came to an end, but we still got to enjoy the perks of the event. My daughter was particularly excited for the Otis Spunkmeyer Kids Zone, which included face painting by “Urban Sitter” and cookie decorating by Baking with Melissa, whom she deemed a famous person that she was excited to see.
There were plenty of samples to enjoy from the best in confectionery and pastry arts. I had lots of ice cream ranging from gluten free to vegan, and even a newly developed ice cream pudding, which I believe will become a big seller in the next few years. It was awfully delicious with flavors similar to banana pudding that can resist. I also indulged in alcohol infused tea, Tatratea. This drink has proofs ranging from 32% to 72% and goes down smooth but strong. My favorite was is the peach and they have great recommendations on how to create party favor drinks. My husband who is not a drinker tried the 72% proof and I wish I had took a picture of that moment because it was the most hilarious face I have seen in a while.
As we lingered from one side to the other we stopped in the exclusive VIPs area. This area was roped off and managed by security so that VIPs and press could enjoy such perks as massages, savory bites, and wine. I took advantage of the wine of course. I was also offered a whole bag of vegan chocolate chip cookies from that were tasty enough that my husband and kids ate them all in like three days. I think it was mostly my husband though, which is hilarious because every time I say I’m eating a vegan snack he turns his nose up in disgust. Sidenote:Vegan snacks are really tasty so I encourage you all to try some. Whole foods bakery section has a lot of options to choose from.
Some great advantages to this event were learning about new desserts, discovering whom to hire for catering, and for my parents finding new places to host birthday parties. Our last stop was to taste a sweet potatoes pie so good it brought the nostalgia of our grandmothers to my husband and I. In fact my husband went back for seconds and to find out how to buy. As we walked out my belly was full of sugary calories. We headed over to the step and repeat backdrop to capture our day with pictures featuring chefs hats and giant donuts. This ended our time at LA Cookie Con. I have to say this year was a smash hit, and I look forward to attending future events.
Fashion Friday this week is a look book featuring two of my favorite clothing items. Faux fur and bell-bottoms. Some people believe fur vest to be over the top. I obviously believe them to be an asset that elevates even the most basic outfits to new heights. Fur is one of the most essential items to have in your winter wardrobe. Whether it’s real or faux we can use it to keep warm and pair with jeans, legging, dresses or shorts. Linger below for my fur vest look book.
Fur is a staple in my wardrobe and Bell-bottom jeans are a new fave. Merge both together,
Keep me updated on how you are rocking your fur vest this winter by email or Instagram or Facebook. I will feature my favorite one on Instagram.
For all my sexy ladies, and my ladies who are looking for their sexy. I am introducing one of my favorite brands to you all. HouseofCB is the brand behind some of our favorite body con style dresses. I discovered this brand years ago when Herve’ Leger first hit the fashion scene with his body con bonanza. I couldn’t afford the designers dresses so I looked for a more affordable alternative, and HouseofCB was it.
I was a bit skeptical at first, because I had ordered from some other company whose product did not live up to the image projected. From the moment my body con arrived in a beautifully wrapped box I was in awe. The material is amazing! It’s figure hugging seductive, and sucks everything in. The perfect body con style dress.
Years later this brand has become the favorite of some of your favorite celebrities. HouseofCB is known for exciting designs and statement pieces, which are designed by their in house team in London and LA. They believe in woman empowerment and killer curves.
Here are some of the celebs recently seen out in HouseofCB:
