I have tried several brow techniques and several brow products. My favorite brow defining technique is using a pencil. For the last 6 months, I used Goof Proof Brow Pencil Easy Shape & Fill by Benefit. This month I switched to Anastasia Brow Definer pictured above, and so far I like it. I am using the color chocolate to fill my brows in, and I think I may end up sticking with this pencil. The brown is perfect for my brows and doesn't look too dark.
Love, Love, Love this brush so far! It has the perfect ting of stiffness and angle to it. I previously used Real Techniques angled brush for years, and it just broke down on me a few months ago. I have a few faves in the Real Technique brush collection, but for brows, I switched to the Sonia brush and I just like it a lot better. The brand is sold at Target, which makes it extra budget friendly.
Now, I really can't name many things better than sex, but this just might be it. This mascara from Too Faced has been a staple product for the last two years. I have tried a few other mascaras, but this is the game changer. It adds volume and fullness like no other. Give it a try ladies, you will not be disappointed!
I have been using this for like umteenth years now. I know there are other brow gels out, but I haven't found a reason to try them. First, because this product is only $1 or $2 dollars. Secondly, it works. That's all I have to say about that (Forrest Gump Voice:).
This is my newest lipstick and Honey, it's Bomb! I went on a raving rant about it over on my Snapchat when I first purchased, follow me here. I call it the perfect nude for my brown skin girls. I wear it plain without liner, and it looks amazing. Just imagine the possibilities when adding a great liner to it. Did I mention it only cost $6 dollars, yea girl, get you one of these!
I had never heard of Dermalogica until I went to Esthetics school. I learned a great deal about this company and the woman behind the company whom I use as a business example because of her love of helping women. Dermalogica is a professional skincare line that also offers some retail. It is used frequently in many spas and salons across the country, and I highly recommend the products. The thermafoiliant, in particular, is an exfoliant that produces results in enhancing, refining, and smoothing your skin texture. Making it much easier for your skin to absorb the other beauty products you use. If you are not using an exfoliant you should be. They are a staple part of a good skincare routine.
A new product in my skincare routine. I initially tried this product while visiting Disneyland with my cousin earlier this year, and I fell in love with the smell. I asked where she purchased and she said Old Navy, but I ended up finding it at Target in a larger size. I like this mask because it is a peel and it it leaves your skin feeling soft and supple. I will say it is very sticky and you have to wait for it to dry completely before peeling off, but it doesn't hurt or pull your skin, like other peel masks.
Same story as with the above mask. This is just a really good foaming cleanser. I love the smell, and I have added this product as one of the many skin care cleansers I choose from on the daily. It is good for all skin types.
Another one that I love, love, love! I initially heard about this product from one of my favorite beauty gurus Makebyshayla. Her skin looked flawless after application and I was dazed. I basically ran to Sephora to cop this foundation. This product does not disappoint, because as stated the finish is seamless. I use it as a full coverage foundation when I want to be extra glam because it is too heavy for my day to day rotation. I am a light weight on regular days using only tinted moisturizers for skin tone evening. Any whoo, this product is clutch. My shade is almond.
I have been using this moisturizer since March after I went to a chemical peel certification class with the company. It is a skin brightening cream that includes SPF. Yes, us black girls need sun protection too. Although we don't burn as easily, the possibility is still there. I like this product because it is lightweight yet still moisturizing. That makes it a good one for most skin types. I would not recommend for oily because I always recommend oil free moisturizers for that skin type. I do get oily in my T-zone, but this still works for me. Let me know in the comments any other great moisturizer recommendations.
A girls gotta shave her legs. My younger sister introduced me to this razor family a couple of years ago, and I have never looked back. Reasons, I don't need shaving cream, and I don't cut myself while shaving. Believe me when I say if you try these you ain't turning back!
Ok yall, exfoliating is not only for the face, but the body too, and this stuff is pure magic. It smells good, and leaves your skin feeling like silk. It is also part of the organic/natural skincare family. I use to use Shea Moisture's scrub for years, but the last two times I bought it, the ingredients must have changed because my skin did agree with the product. Body scrubs are good to use once to twice a week, for keeping your skin smoothed and refined.
13. Keri Lotion
My favorite lotion hands down. I have been using this lotion for about 8 years and it's a staple for life. I have eczema and this was the first lotion I found that kept the perfect balance of moisture in my skin without being too fragrant.
I know many black women have boycotted Shea Moisture because of the advertisement, but I have not. Although I did not agree with the campaign they put out. I still feel that some of their products are worth the purchase, and they do have ingredients which cater to ethnic skin and hair. This African soap is good. They also sell a bar form, but I love the body wash. It helps with body acne breakouts and black soap is good for skin discoloration aka hyperpigmentation.
This concludes my June beauty favorites. Let me know in the comments if you use any of the products above or if you have any additional product recommendations.
